I’m Phuong, a Hanoi-based independent photographer.

I was born in a village along the Thu Bồn River, just before it reaches the sea near Hoi An Ancient Town. As a child, I walked to school along muddy paths, surrounded by quiet sights and sounds that deeply shaped my connection to the land. Those early experiences cultivated a profound love for Vietnam. As I grew older, I witnessed many traditions gradually fading due to urbanization. Vietnam has changed significantly, yet the warmth and hospitality of its people remain. This inspired me to travel and document the country’s rich cultural diversity.

Driven by a deep passion for Vietnam and visual storytelling, I have lived in 3 Vietnam’s regions and journeyed through nearly all provinces of the country. My work has been featured in various media outlets.

I have always desired to connect travelers, photographers, and culture enthusiasts with an authentic Vietnam. I currently organize photography tours and workshops in Hanoi, designed to help participants capture compelling images while gaining meaningful insights into Vietnamese culture and a strong sense of place.

I am available for editorial and commercial assignments. My work focuses on travel and tourism, art and culture, heritage, lifestyle, sustainable development, and education, with priority given to projects aligned with these fields.

Most common questions about photography tours in Vietnam

1. What is a Vietnam photo tour?

A guided trip designed for photographers, combining travel with expert-led photography sessions at Vietnam’s most scenic and cultural spots.

And is a Vietnam photo tour worth it?

Yes, if you want to save time, discover off-the-beaten-path spots, and improve your photography. A good photo tour not only brings you to the right places at the right time of day but also provides cultural insight and access you might not get when traveling alone.

2. Do I need to be a professional photographer?

Tours are suitable for all levels, from beginners to advanced.

3. What kind of photography can I expect?

Street photography

Culture-focused photography

Landscapes photography

Festival photography

Documentary photography

Travel photography

4. What should I bring?

A camera (DSLR, mirrorless, or even high-end compact), lenses (wide & telephoto), spare batteries, memory cards, tripod, and weather-appropriate gear.

5. Is Vietnam safe for photographers?

Yes, Vietnam is safe and welcoming, but like anywhere, keep an eye on your gear in busy areas.

6. What time of year is best for a photo tour?

It depends:

  • Spring (Feb–Apr): flowers, festivals, clear weather.
  • Summer (May–Aug): rice terraces, beaches.
  • Autumn (Sep–Nov): golden rice harvest, pleasant weather.
  • Winter (Dec–Jan): misty mountains, cultural festivals.

7. Will locals be okay with being photographed?

Most are friendly, but always ask politely before taking close portraits.

8. Why join a photo tour instead of traveling alone?

Guides know the best locations, timing, lighting, and cultural context, helping you capture unique shots you’d likely miss solo.

9. Do I need to be very fit to join a photo tour in Vietnam ?

Not at all. Most tours are easy-paced and focus on photography, not hiking.

10. Will there be a lot of walking?

Yes, especially in markets, villages, and city streets — usually a few kilometers per day.

11. Do mountain or rural tours require trekking?

In moutains, some walking or light trekking may be required, but guides adjust to your fitness level.

12. Can older travelers join a photo tour?

Absolutely. Tours are flexible, and many guests are 50+.

13. What should I wear in a photo tour?

Comfortable walking shoes, lightweight clothes, and a hat for sun protection.
